The flu has hit and run

Sorry about not posting in a few days. The flu has hit our house. I keep speaking that I will not get it and I believe that I will not get it. My hubby started it last week, my son is dealing with it now. I am not going to get it. If anyone that is reading this has or is recovering from the flu my prayers go out to you. There is nothing worse then not being able to make my family feel better. I have to run, but I just wanted to update so that you didn't think I forgot how to blog. :) Have a blessed day.

Is it crazy around here or is it just me???

We are selling our house. We do not know the closing dates yet, but they are approaching. This is really good news because it will allow us to save some money and get back on our feet. Our feet are not that far out from under us, but it would be nice to have a little bit in savings. The one thing that we agreed on is that we would not have credit cards, which we don't. We don't even have a checking account. Cash only and Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace has helped us out. Hence the reason we are down sizing.

There is one concern about down sizing....I looked around the house Saturday and literally laughed so hard I cried. I realized that we are going from a 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast area, and garage....to a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. We have 2 whole rooms that we have to remove!! I looked at my husband and just laughed as we were trying to pack boxes. We have not lived in an apartments since we got married 10 years ago. I really can't wait to see how this works. It will be an adventure.

The basketball game went okay on Saturday. When kids play they each get a colored wrist band and they find the person on the other team with the same color and that is who they guard. These kids are just learning the game so it makes it easier on them to just look for the wrist band. Well this weekend they did not have wrist bands, they were just told to guard someone. lol. That was very interesting. You would have 2 or 3 kids just standing around the goal because everybody else was guarding the kid with the ball. Then the ball would be passed to someone else and all the kids would go to that boy. There were kids standing around all over the place. Some of the parents, me included, told the director of the league that the wrist bands needed to stay on for a bit longer. Our team played better this time so we were excited. Mr. J only scored 4 of the 10 points, but hey, that means the other kids are getting better. We lost, but we were winning until the last 6 minutes of the game. The other coach put in this little boy who was super fast. He would steal the ball from our guys and be at the basket before they realized the ball was gone. He was pretty impressive.

Next is baseball season. We have only played T-ball so this is a new thing for us. Mr. J did not like T-ball so we figured he would not want to play baseball, but registration signs were all over town and he decided that he needed to play. YEAH!! Baseball is my favorite sport. If you have never been to a little league registration it is very interesting. Mr. J is in Pee Wee Minor, since he has not played in 2 years. He has the chance to get drafted into Pee Wee Majors if he does well during tryouts. ?????? Who knew????? I heard some strange conversations, but my hubby knew what they were talking about so I was just listening and trying to figure it all out. I don't know when the season starts, but when I do I will email the fam with the dates.

I am working on homework for my two classes today since Mr. J is in school and hubby is working. As you can tell I am not getting a whole lot done. :) I have already read the chapters I just have to type up the papers. Don't worry, it will get done. Okay, I must get. I hope that anyone who reads this has a wonderful day. Just remember....Happiness is a state of mind, not a goal in life..

It's all about grossing out Mom

Okay, 7 year old boys love nothing more then grossing each other out. My sons favorite past time, this week, has been showing me his loose tooth. I can handle skinned knees, a bloody nose, even puke, but teeth....shiver....they give me the heebee jeebees. He knows this and for the last week has been coming to sit on my lap. Being as sweet as he can be, and wiggling his tooth. It is just not natural looking. Like I said, other things don't bother me, but wiggle a tooth in front of me and blah....
He had a friend come over the other night and while he was here he lost a tooth. They immediatly came to me to take care of it. I had to send them to hubby because it just creeps me out. Well, Saturday night at a birthday party J could not eat because his tooth hurt. Yes, it was really loose, but not enough to come out. Trust me, I tried. ewww... I had kleenex trying to pull that sucker out, but it would not come. The whole time he was laughing because it grossed me out. We finally gave up, thank goodness, and he forgot about it.
I am very happy to announce that he called me at work this afternoon to let me know it had come out. YES!! I don't have to mess with teeth anymore. Kudos to those of you in the dental field.

Tuesday.......

Tuesdays usually get over looked by most people. Everyone knows Monday because you have to come back to work after the weekend. Wednesday is hump day, only 2 more days until Saturday. Thursday goes by fast because Friday is getting closer. Friday is exciting because it is almost the weekend. Poor Tuesday...nothing really goes on. You don't hear people saying "Thank goodness it's Tuesday." Well, I love Tuesdays!! On Tuesday, November 24th, 2009 I will complete my Bachelors degree, and walk across the stage in December to receive my diploma!!! I know that right now the excitement of the first night of class has me giddy, saying that I love Tuesdays, but I am a realist....when it is time for a final, well, I will not like Tuesdays as much. I may actually start feeling like Tuesdays are Mondays.....naw...Tuesday will always have a special place in my heart.

At least she knew she was at wits end

There was a story this weekend that caught my attention. It was about a mother who dropped her children, 8 & 10, off at the fire station because they needed to learn how to behave. http://www.click2houston.com/news/15036092/detail.html

I heard a comment that she should be put in jail since she just dropped her kids off, she is a bad mother, she does not need to have children. The firemen were able to get in contact with their Grandmother, and the mother did come back. My thought is if she had not dropped them off and harmed them would people be saying she should have taken them somewhere?

Parents now days have it tough. We can't spank our children because CPS could be called on us. We are being told to put our children in time out or take away their toys. Well, as a parent I have done both of those things and sometimes I do not think I get through because he is doing it again in about 5 minutes.

Now I am not saying that every instance requires spanking, but come on. When I was in school you did not want to go to the principles office because you knew you might get a spanking. I don't know about some of you, but I respected my teachers and those older then me. Yes Sir and Yes Mamm (sp) are still a part of my vocabulary. Please, Thank you, your welcome, and excuse me are also still part of my vocabulary. It drives me nuts when I get told not to say Sir to someone. "It makes me feel old" is what I hear..I still have trouble calling people that I went to church with by their first names....Mr. Davenport has told me to call him by his first name, but I can't. It just doesn't work for me.

I was going to write about how glad I was this lady did not harm her kids, and I am glad that CPS is looking at them, but it turned into a "rant" about being respectful. It just seems to me that I hear about more and more children being disrespectful and they do not care about anyone but themselves. I was a teenager also and I remember those times, but I still had respect for my parents, they may not have known it, but I did.

Okay, random posting, but I just wanted to share my thoughts on the story and ended up with this. Too bad the paper that I am supposed to be writting is not getting this much attention. :)

I don't know if I will put anything out here tomorrow since I do have a major paper due Tuesday, but I will try. I hope I am not missed too much. Ha ha ha....

It's not about winning, but having fun

Another game well played by the Bobcats basket ball team. More passing, more team work, more rebounds, but for some reason their feet kept getting in the way of the ball. We lost 14-24, but we did better then we did last week. The boys really did play harder. There are 4 really tall boys, for being in the 2nd grade, on the team. C, W, J, A are the initials. (I have to protect my child and theirs.) C and J proved to be the best two players last week. The worked really well together and did most of the ball handling. This week the coaches split C
and J up and matched up A and J, to play together, and C and W to play together. I think it helped. All four of these boys scored today. J, my child, :) scored 6 points, C scored 4, and A and W scored 2 each. I was, once again, a very proud mom.

I have only one complaint. The man sitting next to me kept yelling that our players were not playing fair and that the refs were picking sides. He was bad mouthing our team, and my child specifically. He was yelling and just not being nice. I wanted to look at him as say "your winning, are you going to make this game bad for the rest of us?" I was good and did not say a word, which was very hard for me. The ref took care of it for me. He told the man that these boys were in the 1st and 2nd grade. This was only their second game. If he called everything they did wrong there would be no playing time. Thank you ref!!! After that the man was quiet and his team went on to victory. I kind of wish they had lost, but then again, it's not all about winning.

I will keep you posted on how his games go this season. It looks promising with the amount of improvement we saw today.

A Bit About Me

I realized that I just "popped" into the blogging world and did not introduce myself. I did not think this was an issue, since my family and friends would be reading this. I realized not only would my family and friends, but the whole world could read about me if they wanted. That is a bit odd, but I know that all the people in the world will not make it to visit my site. It would be interesting if they did, but I have told friends I have a blog and the response is....A what?.

I am 37 years old, born and raised in the best state ever....TEXAS! I have been married for almost 10 years to a wonderful man. I have a 7 year old son, who is growing up way too fast.

I do not really have a political stance, I don't care for any of the people running for president, but I am listening and reading about them to see if I can find one that I believe will do a better job.

I am a Christian and I love the Lord my God with all my heart and soul. He is an amazing creator and providor. He has seen me through many trials and He knows the plans he has for me. He also made me so he knows how hard headed I can be. :)

I have an wonderful family. My sister is going to be a PA and I am so very proud of her. She is an amazing woman and I am so humbled and blessed to be her sister. Her boyfriend is an amazing guy. He has been a part of our family for almost 6 years. They both enjoy life and love to travel so I know when she graduates this year we will probably not see them state side for awhile.

My parents have been married for 39 years. They are such great parents. I wish I had known that when I was in high school. I call my mother every day and tell her how sorry I am for being such a pain in the rear. This call usually comes after my son has done something. :)

I love to scrapbook, cross-stitch, watch the Astros, and watch the Texans. I am not a big professional basketball fan, but I love to watch my sons basketball games.

That is me in a nut shell, and trust me....I am a nut. :)

New Year's Resolutions

Okay, this morning I broke my first resolution. My goal was to make sure that I was up in time to get my make-up on before leaving the house. I did not even make it two weeks. Oh well. At least I have not broken any of the others: No dieting, no exercise, no Dr. Peppers. When you put them that way you are sure to not break them. :)
I mentioned in my first post that we were selling our house. I should not have gotten so excited about having 2 offers. I mean, I should, but it has been very stressfull. We, still, do not have a contract on the house, but we did counter offer one of the offers that we received. We have not heard back from that couple in 2 days. We do not know what to think. Our agent sent another email and said if we did not hear back by noon today we would take the other offer. I will keep you posted.
It is amazing to me that I can think of a million things to say, yet when I log in to create a blog....I get writters block. Since that is the case I am ending this post and maybe, if my writters block goes away, I will post again today. :)

I did it!!! I made a B in my Literature class!! I was praying for a C, so the B is a wonderful suprise. For those of you that don't know me I am a part time student and will graduate with my BBA in December 2009. I did have a 4.oo until the last 3 classes, but I have set my mind to graduate with honors, not a 4.00 GPA.
My next class starts tomorrow night and then I have another one that starts on the 15th. I only attend class one night a week for each class. If you want to get your degree the place to go it LeTourneau University. I started in June 2006, with about 30 hours and I will complete my degree in December 2009 (In case you didn't read that already. ;) )
I must get back to work, but I wants so excited that I had to blog it and let everyone know.

Welcome to 2008!!

Okay, this is all new for me. I am not a computer person, but I wanted my friends and family to be able to see what was going on in my life without forgetting anyone. :)

The year has started out pretty eventful. We, my husband, son and I, are trying to sell our house. Since this is not the sellers market we hoped for we are just praying for the best. Well our prayers are being answered. We have 2 offers on the house and now we just have to find the one that works best for us. :) We have no idea where we are going to go when we sell our house, but hey in-laws....is that RV still ready to be use. Ha.

Basketball season started and as a proud mom I am happy to say that my son scored 6 of the 10 points that his team scored during their first game. There is, right now, nothing better then watching a bunch of 1st and 2nd grade boys play their first game. 2 of our points came from the other team because they were shooting at the wrong basket.

As for now, this is all I have to write. I will think of more because I am never at a loss for words.
